How to prepare your skin for winter

Winter is coming. And with it comes dry skin, dull complexion, redness and makeup disasters. It’s time we all start putting in extra effort for skincare since that is the only way we can save ourselves this season. Your beauty routine has to be altered in winter for prevention of wrinkles. Here are some tips you can follow to help you with your anti-aging beauty skincare regime this winter season.

Water consumption

Regardless of age, staying hydrated is key. Water helps get rid of toxins and naturally helps achieve smoother skin. Most of us do not drink enough water during winters but this time you will have to. Use an app to remind you and to keep track of your water consumption.

Moisturize

The skin looses it’s natural moisture with age. With the dry winter winds, the skin gets drier. We suggest you invest in a good moisturizer. You can get your hands on special luxury ones for oily skin too if you still have oily skin. If you made the mistake of being careless about moisturizer, now is the time to fix it ladies. Opt for something with antioxidants like vitamin C for a youthful skin even during winter time.

Di’MYOOR offers a highly concentrated Vitamin C Collection, infused with other vitamins and minerals, which gives your skin a good dose of antioxidants and gets protected from free radical damage. If you are looking for a more intense toning session for your skin, you can try the Collagen Anti Aging Collection, where you can get a highly concentrated Collagen Serum, Cream and Mask, all packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and collagen for that luxury me-time in the comfort of your home. And don’t forget the delicate eye area: all our face moisturizers can be used on the eyes as well! To keep your eyes looking younger, fresh and awake, specially on those grey winter days.

Don’t just moisturize your face. Remember your body and lips as well. Put on a natural oil after you shower, or if you have a holy grail body lotion, go for that. Dry chapped lips are not the most attractive so keep lathering on lip balm generously every now and then.

Get rid of dead skin

It’s no surprise to have dead skin when the skin is already getting dry and dehydrated. Along with concentrated moisturizers, exfoliate once a week. Dry patches of skin can get flaky. Your makeup does not go on smoothly on dry skin. It looks dull as well. Beauty is in the radiant smooth skin that comes from exfoliating and moisturizing.

SPF

It’s winter time and Mr. Sun doesn’t make a lot of appearances. Don’t be fooled by this and never skip your sunscreen. Even if it looks gray outside, wear sunscreen. UV rays can make your skin look older which isn’t really helpful during your anti-aging regime. Don’t let your skincare efforts go to waste, and put on at least SPF 30 everyday. Don’t forget your arms, hands and lips. There are Lip balms that come with SPF, so opt for those options.

Stay away from heat

It’s winter time. The log burners are on, the fireplaces are lit and you’re cozy in your blankets. Stop right there. Stay away from heat as much as possible. I know how tempting it is to have hot showers and hot baths during the chilly weather but they are just as damaging to the skin. The hot water rids your skin of any oils and the hot flames dehydrate the atmosphere. Use humidifiers to maintain a hydrated atmosphere. Try going for optimum temperature water during showers and baths. Moisturize right away with a concentrated product.

So now that you know how to keep your skin smooth, hydrated and healthy on colder times that are coming, it’s time to find good books, a soft throw blanket and some good hot chocolate, and embrace the new season!
